Very noir. I love how multilayered the various elements are -- the figure on the pedestrian sign mirroring the woman and her shadow ("walk-ing down the av-en-ue..."), for instance. The shadow looks a bit threatening, like it's spoiling for a fight! The light is amazing - almost looks like accent lighting on a movie set (film noir, of course). It must be early morning or late afternoon.
Nice work.

Yes... Your title gives this so much more depth. The grit, the tones... Everything is just so breathtaking. The fact that you can't really see that the shadow is connected to the woman makes it even better. I actually had to look at it for a second before I realized that.
I see the shadow as a figure from the past... because you can see the balconies above, and the work on the railing is really stunning and grand, but if you look down at the street below, you see so many signs of our time: the tags, the vandalized sign, and what look like nudie magazines in the window of that store.
And the woman walks past it all, while her shadow waits for a better time.
Perhaps it is waiting for nothing?
Regardless, this made me think. So thank you, dear Katia. Thank you so much for sharing.
great balance.... so much high lights and shadows, very nice the light, clap clap

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
